Dr. Whitney Gaskins and ROSE Lab Corporation: A Collaboration for Equity-Driven Excellence in Research
"Beth Anne’s coaching elevated the leadership of the ROSE Lab team. She brought attentive, culturally insightful guidance and empowering encouragement, leading two of our members to a new level of self-awareness about their sensory and processing needs. They flourished, stepping confidently into leadership roles and refining their writing skills.

When Dr. Whitney Gaskins first approached Beth Anne Johnson and the Lamar Creative Co. team, she had a clear mission: to elevate the quality and impact of the research produced by her team at ROSE Lab Corporation. The ROSE Lab is dedicated to transformative research in equity, access, and education, particularly within STEM fields, where underrepresented voices are often absent. Dr. Gaskins knew that to push this research into new territory. Her postdoctoral researchers could benefit from editorial support and holistic coaching in order to unlock their fullest potential.
“Beth Anne has an uncanny ability to see the unique strengths within each person,” Dr. Gaskins shares. “Through her coaching and editing expertise, she helped bring out the very best in my team members. Her approach gave them the confidence to express their ideas and the skills to structure their work effectively. It was truly inspiring.”
From September through December 2024, Beth Anne worked closely with the ROSE Lab team, coaching two researchers on the technical aspects of editing and the nuanced art of academic writing. Together, the team crafted two manuscripts, each poised for publication and four edited works. But the work was more than just editing sentences or correcting grammar—it was about aligning the researchers’ voices with the ROSE Lab’s purpose.
To achieve this, Beth Anne designed a unique workshop titled “Heal the Learner,” specifically aimed at helping the ROSE Lab team tap into their best collaborative selves. “Heal the Learner” was a holistic, two-day writing workshop that integrated the principles of sensory processing, diverse communication styles, and editing prompts. These tools empowered each researcher to understand how their personal styles contributed to the greater work of the ROSE Lab.
Beth Anne explains. “Researchers don’t always have the opportunity to integrate their body’s cues, or somatic intelligence, with their cognitive work, but when they do, it unlocks a depth of clarity and creativity that’s truly transformative. At Lamar Creative Co., we are deeply committed to equity-focused work that respects and uplifts both the individual and collective—these values align beautifully with ROSE Lab’s vision.”
In “Heal the Learner,” each member explored their own unique way of processing information, communicating, and contributing to the team. Some discovered that they worked best through verbal reflection, while others found that quiet, sensory-grounded reflection opened up their thought processes. The session allowed each participant to experience how empathetic communication and technical skills could foster a new level of cohesion within the team.
The success of this collaboration is evident in the feedback from the ROSE Lab team. For the researchers, Beth Anne’s guidance was instrumental in enhancing their manuscripts and building their confidence as writers and collaborators. As they continue their work, they have a stronger foundation in effectively conveying their research, an awareness of their unique working styles, and a sense of unity as a team.
For Dr. Gaskins and the ROSE Lab, this partnership with Lamar Creative Co. has been more than just a few months of editorial work. It has been a transformative process that aligned each researcher with their strengths, fostered a new level of collaboration, and produced research that will impact their field.
This testimonial is a powerful example of how intentional coaching and editorial expertise can do more than refine words on a page—they can uplift a team, enhance its vision, and move it closer to realizing its mission. For Lamar Creative Co., this partnership has been a testament to their core belief: when we invest in people, their work, and their stories, we foster research that truly does a world of good.
